Canada Western Amber Durum (CWAD) Supplier & Exporter
Bennett’s Seed supplies Canada Western Amber Durum (CWAD) through contract-based programs for pasta and semolina manufacturers, grain importers, and Canadian processors. Canada is recognized as a world-leading exporter of durum wheat, and CWAD is known for high protein, strong gluten, high semolina yields, and bright yellow colour for pasta and couscous.
We focus on repeatable performance: consistent specifications by contract, lot IDs, and documentation per shipment.

How Our Supply Programs Work
Our group runs a program model designed for consistency and traceability:
BNCP contracts directly with Prairie growers and manages the supply program.
After harvest, lots are cleaned, graded, and packaged at the nearest practical facility to origin to keep freight efficient and documentation consistent.
Lots are then allocated to our market-facing subsidiaries, and Bennett’s Seed handles final sales to domestic Canadian buyers or export markets.
This structure keeps supply predictable and audit-friendly.
CWAD Grades & Quality Alignment (CGC Framework)
CWAD is graded under Canada’s Official Grain Grading Guide. Quality outcomes are determined by grade factors that matter to millers and end-users, including test weight and hard vitreous kernels (HVK), where HVK is a grade determinant for amber durum wheat in Canada.
Export-grade minimum test weight (CWAD)
No. 1: 80 kg/hL
No. 2: 79 kg/hL
No. 3: 78 kg/hL
No. 4: 75 kg/hL
We can supply by grade and buyer-specific contract specs, and we build shipments around the parameters your receiving team uses (grade, protein targets, HVK expectations, optional falling number, and destination documentation).
Origin: Canadian Prairies (Durum-Growing Regions)
Canadian durum production is concentrated on the Prairies, primarily in Saskatchewan and Alberta, with smaller areas in Manitoba.
Documentation & Shipment Readiness
Every program shipment can be built with the documentation your team needs:
Lot IDs (shipment-level traceability)
Packing list, bill of lading, commercial invoice.
COA / analysis summary (when requested)
Destination-aligned export documentation (as required by contract)
CGC also publishes harvest and export cargo quality reporting for CWAD, which is useful context for buyers managing quality expectations across crop years.
Typical Contract Parameters (Set by Buyer, Confirmed by Lot)
Specifications are set by contract and confirmed by lot. Typical parameters include: Reference:
Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) – Official Grain Grading Guide (CWAD)
Note: CWAD grade factors and minimum requirements are defined in Canada’s Official Grain Grading Guide. Buyer programs may specify tighter limits than the baseline grade tolerances, confirmed by lot and documentation.
